Reading the chart
What the lines, bars and colours on a price chart mean, and how traders use them. Each article has a live chart from Oslo Børs and a button that opens the same view on the stock's page, so you can try it right away.
- Candles and volume — One candle, four prices: how to read a candlestick chart and the volume bars under it.
- Moving averages (MA20, MA50, MA200) — Smooth out the noise to see the trend, and why the lines always lag behind the price.
- Bollinger bands — A channel around the price that widens when it's jumpy and narrows when it's calm, and what a squeeze means.
- RSI: overbought or oversold? — What the 0–100 RSI line measures, what 70 and 30 mean, and when it misleads.
- MACD: momentum — Two lines and a set of bars that show whether a move is speeding up or slowing down.
